  Join other bicyclists for a survey of more than a dozen murals addressing a variety of social issues. We'll cover easy territory from the Mission District to the Castro with no steep hills. We'll look at the art, the politics and the neighborhood issues, and we'll examine public art organizing techniques, stories from your favorite murals, and the complex issues of expressing justice themes through art.   Come see the place once called Downtown Golden Gate Park. We'll explore the relationship between rich and poor as expressed in the pre-electronic-age recreation grounds of the city. We'll see old photos and examples of how the park was designed, changed and fought over, reflecting SF in the 19th and 20th centuries. RSVP w/ your contact info. meet at the Conservatory of Flowers (the ornate white glass building on JFK Drive just west of Stanyan Street). 2 & 1/2 hours. $10 to $40 sliding scale donation. at 11:00 am

Thinkwalks explore the overlap of urban and natural San Francisco. Life in the city, don't forget, is life in a natural environment. The valleys and waterways may be filled in or paved over, but they still exist. Clues to their influence are all around us—especially when nature burps. Earthquakes, rainstorms, even the ever-present wind are forces still shaping the land and our habits. Cultural and political forces have heaved against the land forms, too—and for thousands of years! Human history is clearly part of nature's big picture. Come scrutinize evidence about what really transpired. Let's look at how SF got to be what it is. Thinkwalks are a chance to understand natural patterns in the broadest sense so we can shape our collective future wisely.
